Thank you for booking a remote course with us!
Below is a step-by-step guide to your online training journey with Business As Usual.
Please note: Steps 1 and 2 are to be completed before your first personalised coaching session.
Step 1: CREATE YOUR STUDENT USER ACCOUNT
CLICK HERE to create your student user account with the PECB.
TIP: we recommend using a personal email address for this step so you can maintain easy access to your certifications in the event that you change jobs.
Complete the form below to notify us of your PECB member ID number so we can enrol you in your course.
Step 2: Schedule your FIRST PERSONALISED coaching session
Scheduling your coaching session is simple, thanks to our online scheduling tool. Choose from a 30-minute or 60-minute session via phone or video link.
You can expect your first coaching session to take anywhere between 15 and 60 minutes.
Step 3: Download THE PECB online course application: KATE
This app allows you to access the PECB courses assigned to you. It requires you to login with your PECB account, which you created in STEP 1 above.
Once we enrol you in your course, using the email address you provided us in STEP 1 above, you will receive an automated email confirming your enrollment; and giving you access to KATE and the course materials*. The Foundation level course in KATE consists of:
Two slide decks for two days
A cover page, which is handy if you want to make a folder for your course materials
2 exercises and 4 quizzes
A correction key for the exercises and quizzes
*Feel free to browse the course materials but please wait until after your first coaching session to commence your studies
ISO standards
Although the course content includes all the information on the ISO standard relevant to the exam, we do recommend reading the standard in full in order to gain a better understanding of the standard in its entirety. ISO standards are licensed documents, which can can be purchased from ISO. Some standards have free, read-only versions, as you will see below:
ISO 31000:2018: Risk Management - a free, read-only version is available
ISO 27001:2022 Information Security Management Systems
ISO 22301:2019 Business Continuity Management Systems - a free, read-only version is available
Step 4: FIRST PERSONALISED coaching SESSION
The purpose of this coaching call is to ensure your KATE application is working properly, confirm you’ve been successfully enrolled in your course, and to discuss the course structure and exam.
We will also answer any questions you might have about the course content or exam.
Step 5: Install the exam software and schedule your exam
CLICK HERE to access the PECB Exam software and next steps.
Important: Please ensure there is a minimum of 24 hours between the moment you schedule and when you plan to take the exam (your exam request needs to be approved manually by the PECB).
CLICK HERE for more instructions on installing the exam software and scheduling the online exam.
Step 6: Remote studies
Start with day one and work towards the end of day two. The slides tell you what exercises and quizzes to do when in the course.
Step 7: second personalised Coaching session - exercise discussion and exam preparation
During this call, we will discuss any questions you may have (or discrepancies between the correction key and your answers) after completing the quizzes and exercises.
Step 8: Online exam
A one-hour, closed book and multiple choice online exam, with remote invigilator, is included.
TIP: Before your exam session, we highly recommend you:
1. Go through the PECB Exams application technical requirements available here;
2. Go through the PECB Exams application user guide available here.
The manual has all the information you need for the exam.
Helpful Info:
Ensure there are no other devices in the room where you take the exam. E.g. if you use a laptop to take the exam, there must not also be desktop computer in the room.
If you use a desktop computer, ensure you have an external webcam so you can provide the invigilator with a 360 degrees recording of the room, assuring them that you are alone and that there are no electronic devices in the room.
Test your webcam and exam application the day before you take the exam. When you are taking the exam, you don’t want to be worrying about technical problems.
Good luck!
Step 9: Apply for certification
You will receive your results by email immediately after completing the exam, along with instructions to apply for your certification.
TIP: add results@pecb.com to the “safe list” in your email application, to ensure your results email doesn’t end up in the spam/junk folder.
